Status: Completed
Vote Type: Standard
Proposer: Cllr Revd William Rowell
Seconder: Cllr Morag Bailey
Decision:
The Mayor introduced the item and explained some of the changes. The Town Clerk explained that formal consultation will commence on the 5th October until January 2027 and a public drop in had been organised by the Health Board for 1st December 2026. Cllr Richard Church explained that two petitions were circulating and urged signature.
The Town Clerk advised that the Council should determine its position on the proposals so that officers had a clear mandate regarding the use of Council resources in responding to the consultation and supporting any associated campaign. It was also suggested that the Mayor summon a community meeting to discuss the proposals.
RESOLVED
That Welshpool Town Council opposes any reduction in services currently at Welshpool Hospital;
That the Council supports any campaign to oppose the proposed changes and agrees to make available resources (rooms etc) in support of the campaigns to oppose the proposed changes;
Calls on the Mayor of Welshpool to summon a community meeting to discuss the changes; and
Authorises the Mayor of Welshpool to attend the Welshpool Hospital League of Friends AGM in his capacity as Mayor.
