Decision:
The Town Clerk summarised the report and explained that Section 106 of the Local Government Finance Act 1992 made it a criminal offence for members in arrears of council tax to vote on setting the precept.
The Town Clerk explained that the budget calculation for the upcoming year is £807,924 and that if Members wish to set a precept then the calculations must be compliant with Section 50 of the 1992 Act.
A discussion took place and members made it clear that a 2.5% increase is well below the current rate of inflation.
RESOLVED
That in accordance with Sections 41 and 50 of the Local Government Act 1992, a precept be levied of £807,924 for the 2026/27 financial year; and
To authorise the Town Clerk to issue the formal precept notice to Powys County Council.
