Decision:
After the indoor market traders' meeting, held on Monday, 23rd March 2026, the response from traders was mixed; some traders believe it to be a good idea, and a great way of encouraging trade. Other traders were concerned that it would have a negative impact on their business, as they are already selling produce such as milk, cheese, honey, chutneys, fruit, vegetables and jam.
Members asked officers to continue to chase potential vendors and producers and a suggestion was made to run the market alongside the Continental Market.
RESOLVED
To ask officers to chase a response from local farmers and producers regarding a proposed Farmers Market and explore the possibility of holding an event alongside the Continental Market.
