Vote Type: Standard
Proposer: Cllr Morag Bailey
Seconder: Cllr Alison Davies

Decision:

The Council considered a motion concerning the removal of Red Bank from Powys County Council's preventative winter gritting programme.

Members expressed concern about the decision, particularly given the steep gradient of the road and the potential difficulties for motorists during icy or snowy conditions. It was felt that the characteristics of the road and the safety implications warranted further consideration by Powys County Council.

Members discussed the importance of preventative gritting and the potential consequences of removing the road from the programme.

RESOLVED
To ask the Town Clerk to write to Powys County Council to:
- express our concern at the removal of Borfa Green and Red Bank from the precautionary winter gritting network;
- request that the classification of Borfa Green and Red Bank is reviewed against PCC's approved Winter Service criteria, particularly having regard to its gradient/topography and existing road safety concerns; and
- request the assessment or scoring used by PCC to determine Borfa Green and Red Bank's current classification.
